Leather bow holster designed to fit Ming style bows.
This basic Ming Dynasty Bow Holster, is an interpretation of an illustration of a Gong Du (弓䪅), or bow holster, in the Ming Dynasty manuscript, She Shi (射史 八卷) - History of Archery in eight Volumes by Cheng Zongqiu (程宗猷).
I took liberty from the traditional Korean bow holster and chose a tapered gusset so that your bow can sit tight for the horse, or loose for quick access. A practical, yet historically inspired design, ideal for foot and mounted archery.
The holster is closed by hand with a simple running stitch, as seen on antique Qing bow holsters, and comes with simple braided cotton rope straps that can be adjusted to set the angle that the bow hangs.
- Includes a Ming style brass belt hook inspired by the same bow holster illustration.
- Open bottom holster.
- Available with no decoration, or a choice of a stitched decoration.
- Adjustable balance with two knotted straps.
- High quality ,1.5mm-2mm, leather.
